Absent Voter Ballots Applications Available for the Presidential Primary Election of February 28, 2012

Are you registered to vote in Superior Charter Township?

If you are not sure, you can go to Michigan Votes and follow the directions to check.

Absent Voter Ballots

If you are over 60 years of age or older, expect to be absent from the community in which you vote on Election Day, are physically unable to attend the polls without the assistance of another, cannot attend the polls because of the tenets of your religion, have been appointed an election inspector in a precinct other than the precinct where you reside, or cannot attend the polls because you are confined to jail awaiting arraignment or trial, you may apply for an Absent Voter Ballot. You may use a pre-printed form (absentee ballot request) or send a letter requesting the AV Ballot. The law states that you must:

  1. give the reason for needing the ballot
  2. state where you want the ballot sent
  3. sign the request (must be an original signature)
  4. date the request.

The request can also be be faxed (734-482-3842), e-mailed (davidphillips@superior-twp.org), or you can come into the Township Hall before the Election, fill out an application and pick up an AV Ballot at the same time.

Absent Voter Ballot Applications are available until 2:00 p.m. the Saturday preceding the election.

The Clerk’s Office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The Office is also open for Absent Voter Ballot requests on the Saturday preceding each election from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There are also provisions for obtaining an emergency Absent Voter Ballot on the Monday prior to the election and on the day of the election. The Clerk’s Office will automatically send applications for an Absent Voter Ballot before each election to registered voters who on the Permanent Absent Voter list. If you are 60 or over and wish to be on the Permanent Absent Voter list, please contact the Clerk\'s Office - 734-402-6099- or davidphillips@superior-twp.org. If you are under 60 years of age and wish to be on the Permanent Absent Voter list, you must qualify for one of the above reasons for receiving a ballot. You still must apply for the Absent Voter Ballot for each election. By law, all the Clerk’s Office will do is send the application.

Precinct 3 - Christian Love Church - 1601 Stamford

Precinct 4 - Cheney Academy - 1500 Stamford

Precinct 5 - Township Hall - 3040 N. Prospect

Military and Overseas Voters:

A member of a uniformed service or Merchant  Marine on active duty who is absent from his or her city or township of residence (includes their spouse and dependents), or a civilian voter who is outside the United States and is eligible to vote in Michigan, can obtain an absent voter ballot by mail, email or fax.
